EcoProbiotic
Our principles

What do we say on this site,
and why?

Overblown promises are everywhere in skincare. We set ourselves a few rules so that we don't do the same. We've written them all out here, in the open.

What do we say about the product?

About the product, we only use the information written on the packaging and the shop page: the prebiotic formula, the water-based gel-cream texture, being free from alcohol and parabens, three separate formulas for all, dry and oily skin, and the 50 ml size. With phrases such as "Helps repair the barrier", we also stay within the product's own claims.

How do we present scientific information?

We base every piece of information on the skin barrier and prebiotics on peer-reviewed scientific publications. There are currently 28 publications on the site, and each link goes to the paper itself or to its PubMed record.

Next to each piece of information we also note the type of evidence: is it a laboratory study, an animal study or a study in humans? If a study has limits (being small, or having no comparison group, for example), we write that down too.

Most importantly: the studies we describe on this site were not carried out with our cream. They show the scientific basis for prebiotics and the skin barrier; we do not claim that our cream will give the same results.

What do we deliberately not say?

Which principles do we follow?

For cosmetic product claims, we follow Türkiye's cosmetics legislation and the six common criteria in European Union Regulation No 655/2013:

  1. 01Legal complianceNone of our claims implies that the product has been approved by an official authority.
  2. 02TruthfulnessAbout the product, we only state the properties it genuinely has.
  3. 03Evidential supportWe base scientific information on peer-reviewed publications and always show the source.
  4. 04HonestyWe don't make a study's results look bigger than they are; we write down its limits, too.
  5. 05FairnessWe don't disparage other products or brands.
  6. 06Informed decision-makingWe give information in plain language that anyone reading can understand.
